New Benefits for Ancestry.com World Deluxe Members

by bsayer

I got a nice little package in the mail today. The Generations Network sent me a package that is the “first in a list of upcoming benefits” planned for for Ancestry.com World Deluxe Annual members. It’s a CD containing PDFs of six reference books produced by Ancestry.com and a 20% off coupon for my next purchase in the Ancestry Store. The packaging also hints at some future benefits. The coupon expires January 1, 2010. The “books” on the CD are nice to have:

The first three at least, are useful to me in my research. I don’t have any knowledge (yet) of the last three. All in all, it’s a nice, surprise gift. It does have a rough edge though.

I haven’t tried putting the PDFs on my Kindle yet, but I’m excited to see if I can carry the Redbook with me everywhere.

If you don’t have an Ancestry.com World Deluxe Membership yet, it just got more valuable so now may be the time to join or upgrade. Think about it.

I hope this is also true of World Deluxe subscribers who are signed up through Ancestry.co.uk (like myself). Sound like a useful CD.

I am a World Plus Member living in Michigan, USA. I signed up through Ancestry.co.uk earlier this year to lower the effective price to me – by paying through Ancestry.co.uk I paid only $220 or thereabout instead of $299. I got my CD today.

Was your membership a renewal or a new membership? I like this idea, but the only option open to me is automatic renewal, which will be done on the U.S. site where I signed up. I'd rather pay $227. – current exchange rate. If you know how to renew on the UK site I'd love to know how.

I cancelled my US Membership, and when asked why told them what I was going to do, and then just joined up using the same ID etc with the UK site.

Aha! I have cancelled, but not mentioned my plans. They frequently send a 'teaser' rate offer; I'll keep this site posted. It may be better than the exchange rate. It's about 3 weeks until my membership runs out. Thanks for the info.
